This rodent is recorded on the eastern Andean slopes of Bolivia, in La Paz and Cochabamba departments. A few specimens from Corani were caught in traps set in a tree.
Its fur is soft, dense, and relatively long. The back is dull olive-brown; the underside is olive-buff, with a distinct yellow chest patch. The ears are relatively large and blackish brown.
A few specimens came from traps about 2 m above ground in a small tree at the bottom of a ravine in upper montane forest. This suggests tree use but does not establish full behaviour.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
