This arboreal rat is recorded in western Java. It has long, soft fur and a bicolored tail; a field account reports leaf nests among branches.
The back is reddish brown with dark-gray hair bases; the flanks are yellowish gray, the underside white, and the feet reddish. The tail is dark at the base and paler toward its tip.
The western Java account describes it as arboreal and reports leaf nests among the branches of rasamala trees.
