This mouse is recorded from the Ecuadorian Andes. Specimens have also been collected in the high-elevation Sangay National Park.
In survey specimens, slate-gray hairs tipped with dark brown made the back look brown overall. The ventral hairs were warm light brown at the tips, and many specimens had a pale-brown patch behind the ears.
The Sangay National Park survey collected specimens at both 2,962 m and 3,400 m. The paper does not describe the species' daily behavior or diet in detail.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
