A 2018–2019 survey in Morocco’s Middle Atlas recorded 31 nests at Zerrouka Reservoir and 50 at Hachlaf Reservoir. At Zerrouka, nests stood on islets of emergent vegetation and were built with Typha leaves and stems, bulrush stems, and aquatic plant fragments. At Hachlaf, nests were built in open water away from the shores, using poplar twigs and leaves and fragments of aquatic plants.
