The Cardinal Lory is a nectar-feeding parrot with conspicuous red plumage. It ranges from New Ireland to Bougainville and the Solomon Islands, using coastal lowlands and upland forest.
Adults are generally red, with dull buff-yellow margins on the underpart feathers and a brown-red tail. The bill is red with a black base, the bare eye ring is black, and the eye is orange-red.
It feeds on blossoms in coconut palms and forest trees, as well as berries and fruit. It forages in the canopy and is often seen flying in small groups.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
