This small tyrant flycatcher occurs in the Andes from Colombia through Ecuador to southern Peru. It searches forest vegetation for small invertebrates.
A gray crown and yellow edges on the wings are useful field marks; the dark area around the eye is not strongly marked.
It has records from about 1,300–2,500 m in the Andes and feeds mainly on small invertebrates.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
