Fea’s Tree Rat is an arboreal murine with a broad orange pattern on its back and a bicolored or mottled tail. The 2014 study examined specimens from several forested localities in southern Vietnam.
The species has a more expansive orange pattern on the upperparts than similar murines, and its tail may be bicolored or mottled. A nail-like claw on each hind-foot hallux is another reported distinction.
From field experience, the authors describe the closely related langbianis-chiropus group as primarily arboreal, although animals may sometimes be trapped on the ground.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
