A large African vulture that soars over open country and feeds on carrion.
The head and neck have sparse down. The body is brown to dark brown, with a white belly and pale collar; the eyes are amber and the bill is pale.
It searches for carrion while soaring over broad open habitats such as savanna and grassland. It nests on high cliffs.
