The Middle East vole has a collection record from Bamyan Province, Afghanistan. A study of one specimen suggested that it may feed on grasses at ground level in alpine meadow.
The one specimen examined had brown and yellow mixed on its back, a whitish underside with dark yellow patches, tiny eyes, and short ears hidden by fur.
The authors suggested that the specimen collected in alpine meadow in Bamyan Province may have been grazing on grass at ground level. This is an inference from one specimen.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
