A bird with a raised crest, an orange-beige body, and bold black-and-white wings.
Its body is beige-orange and its wings are banded black and white. It can raise a black-and-white-tipped crest. Females are somewhat smaller and duller.
It is migratory; the Berlin museum profile describes movement to wintering grounds south of the Sahara from mid-July, mainly in August. The RSPB says it does not breed in the UK, where spring overshoots from Africa may appear.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
