Neoplatymops mattogrossensis is a flat-headed bat distributed in South America. In northeastern Brazil it has been reported using ground crevices and feeding mainly on small insects.
Six specimens captured in Rio Grande do Norte had flattened heads, upper incisors separated by a space, and small protrusions on the forearms.
In the Caatinga of northeastern Brazil, the species was reported as a ground-crevice microhabitat specialist. Small holometabolous insects were its predominant prey there.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
