This leaf monkey lives in forests. In a study of one group in an evergreen broadleaf forest in Yunnan, China, the langurs spent most of their time in trees; ground visits included licking rocks.
It is slender, with silver-gray to dark-gray fur. Pale gray hairs frame the black face, and the upright crown and cheek hair form a triangular outline. The white mouth patch usually stops short of the nose; a white eye ring is incomplete or inconspicuous in many individuals.
The group studied in Mt. Wuliang's evergreen broadleaf forest spent 97.1% of recorded time in trees and 2.9% on the ground. Ground visits included geophagy, or licking rocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
