This rodent occurs in the Venezuelan Andes. Historical records include cloud and evergreen forest, orchards and tree captures.
The coat is bright chestnut and soft. Ventral hairs have white tips over dark bases; the long tail ends in a pencil of hairs.
In a historical Venezuelan series, specimens were recorded from cloud forest (55%), evergreen forest (40%) and orchards (5%); many were caught in trees or vines. Older identifications may include related taxa, so these figures are not species-wide habitat preferences.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
