This rodent has few known records in central Brazil. It is documented in forest and in Cerrado environments.
Its dorsal fur is long and dense, and its tail is bicolored. The tail is described as equal to or shorter than the head-and-body length.
Available records suggest a forest-dwelling animal in gallery and semideciduous forests. Later records also place it in Cerrado habitats; the two specimens from open wet grassland were captured at a gallery-forest edge.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
