A member of the bovid family native to the Himalayas. It uses forested and scrub-covered slopes and has gray-to-brown fur with short horns that curve backward.
The coat is gray to brown, with a darker stripe along the back and a lighter patch on the throat. Both sexes have short, sharp horns that curve backward; males grow a longer mane from neck to chest.
Gorals graze mainly at dawn and late afternoon and rest in caves or on cliffs during the day. They also eat leaves, shoots, roots, twigs and lichens, and move lower in colder months and higher in warmer months.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
