This bat occurs across parts of Southeast Asia, including the Malay Peninsula and Borneo. In Singapore, the paper reports historical specimen records and a 2010 encounter at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.
Its short fur ranges from dark chocolate brown to reddish brown. The wing membranes and ears are blackish; the ears are broadly rounded and the wings are narrow.
It has been reported flying and feeding over open areas. Singapore records include roosts in hollow trees in gardens and house roofs. These are local reports, not evidence that it uses the same roosts everywhere.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
