Erythrogenys imberbis is a scimitar babbler of Myanmar and Thailand. Clements' 2024 checklist treats it as a species split from the Himalayan E. erythrogenys.
Clements identifies this as the red-eyed form, distinct from the yellow-eyed Himalayan population. A 1922 account describes the Burmese form as smaller than the Rusty-cheeked Scimitar Babbler but similar in coloration.
A 1922 specialist account records breeding at Kalaw in thin grass and scattered scrub and says the bird frequents grassland and thin scrub rather than forest or heavy jungle.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
