This otter has silver-tipped head and shoulder fur and a white-bordered dark facial patch. Reports document it in Congo Basin rainforest and waterways, with uncertain range edges and identification near related otters.
Silver-tipped hairs on the head and shoulders give the coat a frosted look. The black patch between the eye and nose is bordered by white.
At Mbeli Bai in Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park, otters were observed digging in mud with their forepaws to find earthworms. This is a naturally open, marshy area within rainforest where many field signs were recorded.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
