This antshrike ranges along the eastern Andes from southeastern Peru to central Bolivia. It lives at montane-forest edges and in tall secondary growth.
The male is mostly gray, with white wing bars and white tips on the tail feathers. Its iris is pale.
It uses edges of semi-humid to humid montane forest and tall secondary growth. It moves alone or in pairs through dense understory, feeding on insects and other arthropods.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
