The Marvelous Spatuletail is a hummingbird whose male has racket-shaped ornaments at the ends of its tail feathers. It visits flowers for nectar, and males use the tail in courtship.
The male has two long tail feathers that end in racket-shaped spatules. Females also have spatules, but their tail feathers are shorter.
Males gather to display in courtship and snap their tail ornaments to make sounds. The birds feed on nectar, visiting flowers along a regular route.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
