The Reunion Cuckooshrike is endemic to Réunion. Males and females differ in plumage, and the national park account places it in the La Roche Écrite area.
Males are blue-grey and black. Females are brown above and cream with brown streaking below.
It feeds mainly on insects and sometimes takes fruit found in the forest.
