The male Orange-bellied Leafbird has a green body, orange underparts and a purplish-blue throat. It feeds on insects and fruit in forest from the Himalaya toward Assam.
The male has bright green upperparts, deep orange underparts and a purplish-blue gloss on the throat. Females have paler orange below, and juveniles are all green.
It is found in lighter parts of forest near rivers and clearings rather than deep forest. It occurs in pairs or small parties, moving actively through trees and feeding mainly on insects, with seeds and fruit also taken.
