Pipistrellus hanaki was described from Cyrenaica in northeastern Libya. Libyan surveys recorded foraging bats near water and rocky places.
The original description of the Libyan form describes its fur as reddish brown.
Cyrenaican foraging records came from livestock-water troughs, streams and rivers, rocky overhangs, and cave entrances. The paper identifies these records as bats at feeding grounds.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
