This forest dove lives on New Guinea and nearby islands. Adults of subspecies humeralis are mostly green, with a bright orange patch on the centre of the belly.
Adult P. i. humeralis has a dark olive head and back, blue-green and violet sheen on the wings, and a bright orange centre to the belly.
In New Guinea it gathers in flocks in the canopy of large trees and eats fruit. Figs are a major food, and it turns to other plant fruits when figs are less available.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
