This spiny rat occurs in the eastern Amazon. Its coat and tail are described, but a 2015 reference says its field natural history has not been studied; the only habitat clue is one specimen recorded under the synonym leioprimna.
Its back has dark reddish-brown to nearly black spines, and its underside is white. The short tail is sparsely furred and appears almost naked.
The reference says field natural history is unstudied. The only habitat clue cited is one specimen under the synonym leioprimna collected in seasonally flooded forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
