This bat has a dark-brown back and pale gray-to-cream underside. It is recorded in wetter miombo woodland in eastern Angola. The 2019 account concerns one female from Lac Calungo and distinguishes it from G. variegata by fur coloration.
The unspotted back is medium-dark brown, the neck paler, the head and face darker, and the underside pale gray to cream. Its reticulated, translucent pale-brown flight membranes may have been orange in life; areas along the veins and bones are dark reddish brown.
HMW 2019 describes wetter miombo woodland dominated by Brachystegia and Julbernardia. The holotype was collected inside a house, but the account does not identify the house as a roost.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
