This mouse is recorded from southern Peru into Bolivia, in montane cloud forest and Yungas. Its back is dark brown, and its underside is dull white with gray hair bases.
The back is dark brown, with pale orange tips on the soft hairs. The flanks are yellowish orange, and the ventral fur is dull white with gray roots.
The original revision associates this new species with montane cloud forests from southern Peru to Bolivia. Peru’s environment ministry describes it as living in the Yungas of southern Peru and northern Bolivia.
