This antbird lives in forests from the Guianas to northern Brazil. It walks on the forest floor and searches for food among leaf litter. Males and females differ in throat color.
The head, back, and tail are rusty brown, with pale wing bars. The male's throat and chest are black; the female's throat is white. Both sexes have a blue orbital ring.
It walks alone or in pairs on the forest floor, turning leaf litter while searching for food. It sometimes follows army-ant swarms.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
