The Malenge babirusa is a pig relative from Indonesia’s Togian Islands. It has sparse, short body hair, a tufted tail, and forward-pointing upper tusks in males.
Its body hair is sparse and short, and its tail has a well-developed tuft. In males, the upper tusks are short, angle forward, and converge toward one another.
Wild babirusas as a genus eat fruits and seeds as well as leaves and roots. They forage with the nose close to the ground, but do not root with the snout when the soil is hard or dry.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
