The Cape dune blesmol is a stocky rodent that digs tunnels below sandy ground with its strong forefeet. It lives alone along the southwest coast of South Africa.
Its coat is reddish brown, and some individuals have a darker band along the middle of the back. Its forefeet carry strong, curved digging claws.
Adults usually occupy burrows alone and dig underground tunnels with their foreclaws. They eat roots and bulbs below ground as well as grasses and other green plants above ground.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
