The Planalto Slaty Antshrike is an antbird of the lower forest layers in Brazil. A 2015 record from Sergipe described a nest at a forest edge where both sexes incubated and fed the chick.
Males are mostly grey, with a darker crown, wings, and tail and a whitish center to the belly. Females have a rufous crown and back with ochre underparts, making the sexes strongly different in appearance.
In January 2015, a cup nest was found 1.02 m above the ground in a forked branch at a forest edge in Serra de Itabaiana National Park, Sergipe. Both sexes incubated and fed the chick. The roughly 13-day incubation estimate was inferred from a partial observation and was not confirmed by the authors.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
