Adults have dark metallic-green upperparts, a grayish head with a purplish tint, grayish underparts, and chestnut undertail coverts.
It eats fruit and usually feeds in the upper canopy alone or in small groups. Larger gatherings may form in coastal wooded areas with fruiting trees.
