The southern golden bat is recorded in Brazil. A specimen from a study in São Paulo state had reddish fur and a smooth noseleaf.
The study specimen had bicolored dorsal fur, brown at the base and reddish-brown at the tips, with pale reddish-brown underparts. Its noseleaf was smooth, its ears pointed, and its tail reached the middle of the uropatagium.
In the São Paulo survey, one non-reproductive female was caught in May in a ground-level mist net crossing a wide stream.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
