This rodent occurs in Brazil's Atlantic Forest region.
Its back is dark brown with black hairs, darkest at the midline; long black-tipped rump hairs contrast with yellow-brown fur below.
Reported settings include coastal evergreen broadleaf rainforest and Araucaria forest.
