This small flycatcher lives in wet lowland forest and swampy areas across the Amazon region and the Guianas. Its long, pale-edged black crest and yellow-green wing bars are distinctive.
Long black crown feathers have pale edges. The upperparts are olive, and the dusky wings show two greenish-yellow bars.
It uses swamps, damp lowland forest, forest edges and second growth. It is thought to glean insects beneath leaves, but the available account says the diet is not well documented.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
