A bird with a raised crown that visits river flats and farmland in winter flocks.
It has a fairly short tail, pale underparts and a streaked breast. The crown feathers can appear raised into a small crest.
It arrives for winter and gathers in open places such as river flats and farmland. It also occurs along forest edges.
