The Black-throated Accentor breeds in mountain regions of Central Asia and around the Urals. The nominate form and subspecies huttoni differ in throat markings and winter movements.
Adults of the nominate form have a white band below the black throat, a gray-brown head, and a pale eyebrow. Subspecies huttoni lacks the white throat band and is darker.
It forages on the ground alone or in small groups. The nominate form migrates, while huttoni is partly migratory.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
