This rusty-brown ground bird inhabits arid southern Australia. A 2009 NSW Government determination treated it as a full species separate from the Striated Fieldwren and restricted its NSW range to the far-west arid zone.
The NSW Government’s 2009 description calls it rusty brown and strongly streaked, with a pale eyebrow, throat, and belly. It has a plain rump and cocked tail.
It lives on the ground in low, sparse or dense chenopod shrubland, samphire, and heath. The determination limits NSW records to the far west, between the lower Darling River and the South Australian border.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
