This small mouse is recorded from montane forest in southern Ecuador. The original paper reports specimens collected in mature forest where the undergrowth included many bamboo-like Chusquea plants.
The dorsal fur is dark neutral gray.
One collection record came from mature montane forest with undergrowth visually dominated by Chusquea bamboo, Araceae, and Melastomataceae.
