The White-ankled Deermouse occurs in the Mexican highlands and mountains. It is active at night and eats seeds, fruits, and other foods.
Its back ranges from pale ochre to brown, with a cream-colored underside. The hind feet and ankles are white, and the tail may be as long as or longer than the body.
It is nocturnal and eats seeds, nuts, fruits, and cactus, with insects also taken at times. Records come from rocky hillsides and from semiarid through tropical environments.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
