The Himalayan musk deer has no antlers; both males and females have elongated upper canines.
Its coat is sandy brown, darker over the rump and limbs, with a gray to white underside. Both sexes have long upper canines, longer in males; there are no antlers, and it is difficult to distinguish from a close relative by sight alone.
It is usually solitary, conceals itself in vegetation and is active mainly in the morning and evening. Seasonal foods include grasses, leaves, mosses, lichens and shoots.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
