This small bird is restricted to the Tacarcuna mountains on the Colombia–Panama border. It searches for insects in the forest understory, and a broad silvery eyebrow stripe is described for males.
A 2004 paper describes a broad silvery supercilium that begins above the eye and extends behind it in males.
Ecological records from the Tacarcuna mountains describe it foraging alone or in pairs on the forest floor, near fallen trunks or in vegetation about 50 cm high, taking insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
