The Katanglad shrew mouse is currently known only from the Kitanglad Range on Mindanao. Its orange-brown fur, large clawed forefeet, and bicolored tail are distinctive.
Its pelage is orange-brown, and its large brown forefeet have long, stout claws. The bicolored tail is nearly as long as the combined head and body.
One adult male was captured in old-growth mossy forest at 2,250 m in April 1993, in mid-afternoon under tangled roots at the base of a ravine. Its stomach was empty, so its diet remains unknown; a semi-fossorial habit was inferred from its feet, claws, head, eyes, and fur.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
