This small bat is distributed in Cambodia, southern China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its soft gray coat is a useful field mark.
In the Vietnamese specimen account, the coat is thick and soft, gray above, and pale gray underneath with darker hair roots. The ears are relatively short and broad, without a notch in the rear edge.
The IUCN assessment lists forest, caves and other underground places, and human-made terrestrial sites as habitat types. Records from northern Myanmar were at 615–1,230 m.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
