This mouse lives in Yungas and transitional forests east of the Andes. Its back ranges from olive to reddish, and its tail is two-toned.
The back ranges from olive to rufous and the flanks are pale buff. Its long tail is dark brown above and white below, with a less tufted tip than in related species.
Little natural-history information is available. In Bolivia it has been recorded in transitional forest at low to middle elevations; reproduction apparently spans summer. Argentine spring captures included both reproductively active and inactive animals.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
