The Chinese Pygmy Dormouse is a small rodent recorded in the mountains of southeastern China. It has small eyes and a tuft at the end of its tail, and uses ultrasonic calls to move in darkness.
Its back is medium gray and its underside grayish white. The tail ends in a brush-like tuft of long hair; its eyes are small and its whiskers long.
T. cinereus is reported from humid ecotones between subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest and bamboo groves, using thick leaf litter, rock crevices and tree hollows. In darkness, experiments confirmed that it uses ultrasonic calls to avoid obstacles.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
