Wagner’s Gerbil is currently listed as Gerbillus dasyurus. A Saudi Arabian field guide describes it in rocky terrain and limestone escarpments, where it shelters among rocks or under bushes and feeds mainly on seeds and succulent plants.
The medium-sized, slender gerbil has pale gray-yellow fur with fine black speckles, white underparts, white patches above the eyes and around the ears, and a black eyebrow marking. Its long bicolored tail ends in a pencil-like tuft.
In Saudi Arabia it occupies rocky terrain and limestone escarpments with herbs and grasses up to about 2,000 m. It shelters among rocks or in burrows under bushes and feeds at night, mainly on annual-herb seeds and succulents, occasionally insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
