The sandy blind mole rat is a subterranean rodent of the sandy lowlands along the lower Dnipro in southern Ukraine. It gathers underground plant parts and stores food for winter.
Its eyes, external ears, and tail are reduced, fitting a life below ground. Its coat is light gray on both the back and belly.
It lives underground and digs feeding tunnels. It eats underground plant parts, prefers bulbs, and stores food for winter.
