The Black-nest Swiftlet is a small swift that feeds on flying insects and roosts communally in caves.
It is a small swift that builds dark nests with feathers mixed into saliva.
It catches small insects in the air and feeds in large flocks. Individuals roost together in caves.
At Gomantong Caves, Malaysia, it nested at least 15 m high on cave walls and ceilings, laying a single egg per clutch.
After the April 1995 harvest at Gomantong, all 50 monitored harvested nests were rebuilt on their original sites.
That year at Gomantong, eggs reappeared about four weeks later in the harvested cluster than in the unharvested cluster.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
