This large cuckoo occurs from East Asia into Southeast Asia. The sexes have different plumage; it eats fruit and lays its eggs in other birds' nests.
Males have glossy blue-black plumage, red eyes, and a long tail. Females are dark brown above and lighter brown below, with white and rufous spotting and streaks.
In Singapore it feeds mainly on fruit and berries in parks, secondary forest, and low-density urban areas. It is a brood parasite, laying eggs mainly in House Crow nests there.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
